The Chai Serai Marquee, with a chai cafe and seating provisions, gives the mela-goers an opportunity to relax and enjoy a community led stage programme of folklore, classical and contemporary dance and music. Performances by local school children are an added attraction.
The Chai Serai programme includes folk, classical and contemporary dance items in addition to vocal and instrumental music. Over three hundred performers take to the stage in the colourfully decorated Marquee.
Pre-event dance workshop sessions are offered to school children and to community groups in Greater Manchester. Around one hundred workshop participants are given the opportunity to perform on the stage on the Mela days. Professional dance teachers and choreographers lead the workshops.
